Spring can be a great time for a weekend away or even day-trips. You don’t always need to go far to take advantage of the season. After a long winter indoors, it’s nice to get outside and explore. It can also be a great time for a quick weekend or day trip.
Where I live in the Northeast, Spring can still be somewhat cool and refreshing, which I like. One thing I don’t look forward to, however, are my seasonal allergies. I’m allergic to tree pollen and grass So when things start blooming, I used to feel like I had to shut all my windows and stay indoors.
Thankfully, Claritin® Cool Mint Chewables make all the difference and I don’t have to cancel any of my spring plans.
With the Claritin® Cool Mint Chewables, no water is needed, so it’s perfect on a day out, for on-the-go-relief! I get the same trusted relief of Claritin® PLUS an immediate blast of cooling flavor sensation. It makes me think of cool, brisk air when you first step outside on a spring morning. I really like how the Claritin® Cool Mint Chewables bring that cooling sensation to my throat. The Claritin® Cool Mint Chewables contain 10mg of Claritin® and is for ages 6+.
No matter where you live, there are some standard things you should consider doing to enjoy that spring weather!
Read below to see how you can getaway for the weekend, a night or even just an afternoon with these ideas.
Hiking/Trails – Find a unique place that has trails and it’s a great weekend day activity. We have one reserve near us that has tons of trails and a river. Another has winding trails through the woods and historical ties to the winter encampment of General Washington’s Troops during the revolutionary war.
Historical Locations – I love when I can find a historical location that combines seeing the inside, say of an old home or estate, but also an outdoor area. This is one of my favorite estates to just walk around – and you don’t even need a ticket if you’re staying outside.
Arboretums – Consider arboretums or large parks. They often have so much to see, gardens, water features, trails and even events. One arboretum near us is dog friendly and our dog loves to join us on these cool spring days!
Festivals & Events – Take a look at local websites for festivals or farmer’s markets. These will often come back strong in the spring. Some of our favorites – evening music festivals, movies in the park, fruit festivals, garden events (we have a peony farm near us that is amazing!) or multi-day events, such as arts & crafts fairs, outdoor art shows or markets.
Bed & Breakfast – Find any of these attractions above and make a weekend of it by finding a nearby quaint town or local inn. This combines the fun of exploring a new town (doesn’t need to be far from home!) and a little time away from it all while enjoying all that the area has to offer.
No matter where I’m headed, I don’t go without Claritin® Cool Mint Chewables. Because all that new grass, new tree blooms and pollen floating through the cool breeze really give me a ton of symptoms.
The cooling flavor sensation also reminds me of a quick tip that I use come allergy season.
QUICK TIP: Whenever you are outdoors, even if only for a little while, taking a shower when returning home is KEY. You will quickly rinse away allergens that can stay on your clothing and hair. This goes a long way to helping prevent symptoms!
Pair your shower with homemade shower bombs and you’ll keep up that cooling sensation. The rush of cool vapor from these bath bombs in the shower reminds me of the sensation I experience with Claritin® Cool Mint Chewables.
Simple Homemade Shower Bombs
You will need:
1 cup of baking soda
¼ cup cornstarch
15 drops lavender oil
15 drops peppermint oil
10 drops lemon oil
¼ cup of water
Using a fork, mix the baking soda and cornstarch. Add oils to water and slowly add to the baking soda/cornstarch. Mix as you pour and combine well once water is poured in. Crush any clumps and add more water in ¼ tsp increments. Consistency should be sticky. Add to mold and allow to set for 8 hours. Place in an airtight jar or bag and use each shower during allergy season!
Overall, enjoy your spring and don’t let allergies keep you indoors! Get out and enjoy the season with some of my tips but make sure you have Claritin® Cool Mint Chewables on hand to bring relief!
