Anyone who has ever traveled, whether it is for work or vacation, knows that while it can be amazing and fun, it can also take a toll on your routines and wellness. From sleep disruptions to feeling like you need a detox when you come home, travel can definitely complicate a wellness routine.
So, what can you do to help make sure you have a great time, or accomplish work if traveling for business, AND come home not feeling like your routine is all out of whack? It can be easy to stress, lose sleep, treat yourself, choose efficiency and stray from your wellness routine when away from home, but these 5 Travel Wellness Tips are sure to help when packing and planning for your next trip.
Reusable Water Bottle
Don’t leave home without it. It sounds so simple, but traveling dehydrates you. You’re not taking in as much water as you need and especially if you’re flying, you can feel really depleted. I usually bring an empty bottle in my carry on and fill it after airport security (a lot of airports have water stations / fountains). If traveling by car, fill and bring your water bottle for the trip! Keep it with you on the trip and fill at the hotel or restaurants along the way. Staying hydrated alone will go a long way to maintaining wellness while traveling. If you do nothing else, do this!
Keep Snacks Healthy
Pack snacks that you can have on hand while traveling – either in the car or by plane/train. It will help you avoid the drive-thru, convenience foods and airport snack kiosks. Include protein bars, nuts, trail mix, dried fruit and other snacks that take up little to no room and travel well.
Stick to Your Routine
Think about your routine and then pack with it in mind. If you follow a skincare routine, bring what you need. If you usually start your day with a walk or jog, try to do the same while you’re away. Of course vacation is meant to be a break so there are ways to factor in a walk into something fun (like a hike or tour). If you do things each day that contribute to your mental health or overall well-being, keep them up! Make sure you have all of your vitamins or supplements that help make up your wellness routine.
I make sure to have my Nature Made® Vitamin C 250 mg Gummies with me on every trip. Not only are they a part of my routine, they also help support the immune system.† The idea of staying healthy with Nature Made® Vitamin C 250 mg Gummies is a routine I always stick to.
Travel and sleep, it’s a complicated relationship! I don’t tend to sleep well in new places but I also NEED to get my 6-8 hours a night or I’m lethargic and tired. Travel with the things that will help you sleep better or do things that keep your sleep routine. If you don’t typically watch television before bed, don’t do it while you’re traveling. If you take a bath to unwind, considering doing the same on vacation. Watch your meal times, as altering those things can affect how well you fall asleep. And if you need a little help, like I do, I always travel with Nature Made® Melatonin 10 mg Gummies which naturally‡ helps you fall asleep faster.†
