[Decor] Why Choose Hardwood For Your Home?

Oct 10, 2019 Stephanie

This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The look of hardwood goes with everything and won’t soon go out of style – a true classic.

There are so many different types of flooring options – and out of all of them, hardwood floors can seem like an expensive option. However, hardwood is a great choice if you’re looking for flooring that is safe, clean and pretty low maintenance. I love having hardwood in the majority of our home. With kids it’s been super easy to keep clean. Hardwood floors can transform any space and blends modern with the old – it is a classic that just won’t go out of style. Plus, as your home ages, it is easy to repair.

Hardwood can be great for high traffic, well-lived in areas of your home, like a kitchen or eating area, both natural gathering points.

More reasons to choose hardwood floors:

Clean

Hardwood floors is a clean, sanitary option! When compared to carpets, there’s just no comparison. Carpets get dirty, trap dirt, hair and pet dander and more. Allergy suffers will do well with hardwood, because there is nowhere for allergens and debris to hide. Just clean and done!

Easy

While hardwood may cost more upfront than carpet, they require less maintenance. Hardwood floors are typically sealed, so the wood is protected. This means stain resistant! Scratches and marks can be repaired or refinished easily. If your decor changes, you can easily sand and refinish with a new stain to match your new style or furniture.

They are also easy to clean – often just requiring a damp soft pad cleaning and in between using a soft cloth to remove small debris or dust. My kids and my dog have put our hardwood to the test over the years, but it has been worth it. They have been easy to keep clean for kids playing on the floors and while many toys and memories have made some scratches and dings – I know that I can EASILY fix these with a restain since the wood is in good condition.

Sustainable

As this becomes more important in our daily lives – to find sustainable items for our homes and daily lives -wood flooring is the most renewable flooring material available.  Wood floors use less water and energy to produce and can be recycled. Carpets are often produced with synthetic materials and can be treated with chemicals. Hardwood floors have a much smaller footprint than a carpet that may need to be replaced every 10-15 years.

No matter what look you’re going for, there’s a stain and so many options to fit even the most unique spaces. Photo via Selecta Flooring.

The Look

You can deny how good hardwood floors look. With so many stains, types, and options available, it can truly make an impact in ANY space. Aside from enjoying them, hardwood floors will help to increase your home value.

Homes with hardwood floors sell faster and have more value. Buyers look for hardwood. When we were buying our home, I constantly asked if there was hardwood under the carpets in ANY room that had carpeting. It was a must for me!
