National Fetch Day is an opportunity to bring awareness to the importance of bonding and exercising with our pets, and how the game of fetch offers both.
Dog owners know that playing ‘fetch’ just comes with owning a dog. Dogs love it, kids love to participate and it can be fun for owners, too. But did you know there’s real benefit to playing “fetch” that really benefit your dog?
Exercise Dogs need good exercise to burn off extra energy and stay in good health. Fetch is interesting and engaging to them – so it makes for a great form of exercise.
Helps Keep Your Dog Thinking Playing a game like ‘fetch’ gives your dog the chance to think and strategize – which is good for them!
Builds a Bond Play helps dogs form bonds – so playing these games is one way to improve the owner/dog bond.
Allows Your Dog to Use Instincts Dogs have natural hunting instincts, so when you engage in activities like ‘fetch’ your dog is able to use those natural instincts
Curbs Boredom Without play, dogs get bored. Dog owners know what boredom leads to — usually mischief or acting out. Keeping a regular play time is a great way to ensure your dog gets daily play (i.e. after your walk; or on the weekends, at the dog park.)
Making sure you play enough ‘Fetch’ with your dog is so important. Make sure you get out there and play fetch with your dog! How do you play fetch with your dog? Do you plan to celebrate National Fetch Day? We’re definitely going to be playing fetch with our favorite toy that #makefetchhappen, the Chuckit! Launcher!
