Pet Health – A Dog Detox

Apr 02, 2018 Stephanie

This post was sponsored by Supreme Source® as part of an Ambassador Program for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Earlier this month, I wrote about our dog Oliver and why he’s so important to our family. In an effort to keep him healthy and living his best life, I shared how we would be doing a 10-day detox with Oliver. Now that we’re almost through that, I wanted to share some of what I’ve learned.

Spring seemed like the perfect time to do a little spring-cleaning! Starting with the toxins that have been lingering since winter! Supreme Source® Pet Food is perfect for helping us feed Oliver and detox his system with healthy ingredients. We picked up the Supreme Source Grain Free Pork, Peas & Wild Boar Dry Dog Food from the pet aisle in our local Stop & Shop for the detox.

They have informational tools that make the whole thing easy and fun. It is also simpler than you think to switch your dog’s food to something better for them. In just 10 days your bet could be eating better.

The detox that I took part in with Oliver focuses on:

Digestive

Emotional Health

Physical Health

The detox features Supreme Source, a premium grain-free diet that is packed with healthy enzymes and prebiotics to help rejuvenate our dogs – inside and out!  Supreme Source has no corn, wheat, or soy and contains no artificial flavors or colors. The food provides a healthy blend of fruits and veggies, which are natural sources of potassium, fiber, vitamins and minerals!

Why is a detox for my dog important?

Our dog is a member of our family. My young children depend on their pet as much as he depends on us. He is the one to help calm them when they’re crying or when it’s been a bad day at school or on the sports field, Oliver curls up with them to make it all better. Recently, my 8 year old asked us if Oliver would be around when he was in high school or college. I owe it to my kids and to Oliver to make sure he’s his healthiest self so that he is around for a long time.

Oliver has been loved his 10-day detox. The food change seems to have him more satisfied and I feel good about what I’m feeding him.

Since part of the detox called for us to spend more time with him, I noticed how much happier and energetic he was. He seemed fulfilled and got plenty of attention, so I love that the time spent with your pet is a part of this detox. It’s important for Oliver’s mental well-being that we do more with him than just walks and tossing a ball. We are always with Oliver, but this detox really showed me that we weren’t intentional in what we were doing with him in terms of activity.

Since it’s not too warm yet here (despite Spring starting soon) Oliver gets a little cold when we’re out for a walk or playing.

Quick Tip: Make a doggie sweater from an old sweater.

All you have to do is cut one sleeve off the sweater and follow the seam of the shoulder. Make sure the width will fit your dog.

The wrist cuff will be your neck edge.

Lay flat with seam from the sleeve face up.  Measure where it will hit your dog’s legs, mark and cut two triangles into the side.

These will be the leg openings. It’s simple and easy — and a great way to make use of that old sweater at the back of your closet. Oliver loves his new sweater. As we head out for play now that he has more energy from switching to Supreme Source, it keeps him warm!
