Homemade Dog Treats {A Balanced Diet for Oliver}

We shop PetSmart for a variety of products for our dog, Oliver – especially  Purina® ONE® Smartblend® True Instinct Dog Food. It is one of Oliver’s favorites, and one of mine, too since Purina  provides complete and balanced diets with wholesome pet nutrition, which include Protein, are Grain-Free and Natural. Once in a while, we like to spoil him with a treat. Get a recipe (below) for a simple homemade dog treat.

This is Oliver and he loves to ham it up for the camera. When he’s not busy being cute – he’s getting into trouble with my three kids. He loves getting into the mix on their play.

Just like we care about our kids’ diet, we care about Oliver’s too! That’s why, I’ve always been very careful about what we feed him. Purina is a brand we trust and he loves the Purina ONE® Smartblend® True Instinct Adult Dog Food – Grain Free, Chicken & Sweet Potato. When we want to give him wet dog food, he likes Purina ONE® Smartblend® True Instinct  – Turkey & Venison Tender Cuts in Gravy.  He likes the taste – and I like the premium quality Purina products available at amazing prices I can find at PetSmart.

Now that the warmer weather is here, we like to make Oliver an occasional cool doggie treat. It’s so simple and is a little something extra for him to enjoy every now and then in addition to his well-balanced diet. Always check with your vet to be sure you know what food items are safe for your dog.  To make these simple paw shaped treats, you’ll need the following:

Silicone Mold

Peanut Butter

Yogurt

Ripe Banana

Mixing Bowl

First, you’ll want to mash the ripened banana and then add the yogurt and peanut butter. Tip: Microwave the peanut butter on 10-second intervals so it mixes a little easier. Then, once well mixed, pour into the mold.

Place in freezer until solid. Store in a freezer safe bag in the freezer.

We shop at PetSmart for all of Oliver’s needs!

I love that Oliver can come with us when we shop. He usually visits the salon when we are there – getting himself a little day of pampering. They always take such good care of him there! You can visit in-store to see the deals and great service.
