DIY Ocean Sensory Jars

Apr 05, 2017 Lou C.

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc., Kimberly Clark, and Disney. All opinions are mine alone. #FamilyMovieWithKleenex #CollectiveBias

We’ve had strange weather here in the northeast this season. One day it’s warm and the next it’s frigid.  It’s been the perfect setup for everyone getting sick – and in the last two weeks, that’s exactly what happened at our house. One by one, everyone got a super cold that left us all reaching for the Kleenex.

When the kids are home sick, it can be a challenge to keep them entertained while encouraging rest! One of my twins recently spent a sick day at home with me – jammies and all – and we had the chance to watch Finding Dory. We had seen it in the theatres but she was excited to finally watch it at home.

As if the movie wasn’t fun enough, we cured the sick-day boredom by making a fun, DIY Ocean Sensory Jar – inspired by Finding Dory. Along with Kleenex® – Finding Dory, the day was far from dull!

With the Kleenex® – Finding Dory tissue boxes, you can take Dory and friends with you anywhere. Strong, soft and absorbent as always. These are only available a limited time. We found ours at BJ’s Wholesale Club.

DIY Ocean Sensory Jar

To make your own Ocean Sensory Jar, you only need a few items, many of which you may already have.

What You Need:

Glass Water Bottle with Cap (Popular Grocery Store Brand)

Blue Glitter

Mini Ocean Figures (Craft Store)

Clear Glue

Kleenex Tissues (for sniffles and quick messes!)

Ocean Stickers for the Outside of the bottle

I start by adding the glitter to the bottom of the water bottle, followed by the figures.

Add water almost to the top and then add glue. You want to use about ½ the bottle of glue per sensory jar.(The glue helps give the water and glitter that “slow-flowing” kind of look. )  Top off any remaining space with more water.

Dry the bottle off – wipe up any mess with some Kleenex and then seal the cap – tightly.

With the perfect balance of softness and strength, Kleenex facial tissues are durable with 2-ply thickness and are absorbent to lock in moisture, so these essential facial tissues are perfect for so many things — makeup smudges, sniffles and sneezes, children’s messy faces, crafts and more. Just use and toss. Stock up on Kleenex Everyday Tissues and keep tissues on hand to care for family, company and yourself during cold and flu season and allergy season.

Quick Tip: I like to add some super glue to the bottle before sealing. My kids are way too resourceful and that cap would be open without the super glue. If you think your kids are too young to sit and play with the sensory jar carefully, I highly recommend using a plastic water bottle. Same look, without the risk!

Finally, decorate your bottle with the ocean stickers.

And there you have it – a fun, Ocean Sensory Jar that is as much fun to look at as it is to make!

Fandango Movie Offer
