DIY Pet Food Tray

Nov 28, 2016 Stephanie

Keep your pet’s eating area mess-free with this easy DIY for a pet food tray. This has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #Txt4Pet   #CollectiveBias

I’m lucky that my dog is pretty neat about eating – but with his food and water bowls in a high traffic area someone (i.e. one of my three crazy kids) is always bumping into them. Water or food spills out onto the floor and it’s one more mess to pick up. It inspired me to create a tray for his bowls, hoping to keep things a little neater.

What’s in the Bowl Matters

Before I get to this pet food tray DIY, I’m always very particular about what goes into his bowl. Purina Beneful has been our choice for a while now – and Oliver loves this food and the other unique product ranges of food and treats from Purina.

Purina believes that living is bigger when pets are involved – that they truly enrich our lives. That has been so true for my family and our dog.

Starting the week of December 4th, you can access a special high value Target exclusive coupon to save $10 off a $40 purchase of Purina products. All you need to do is text PETS10 to 827438. (Note: Data and messaging fees may apply and vary based on individual mobile carrier. Not all mobile carriers and plans may support the text coupon offer system.) I love how convenient this offer is! Being able to text and claim this at any time from my phone (even while at the store) is everything! In addition, the high-value savings this offer provides helps me to treat Oliver to his favorite treats and food at Target  – especially since no Purina products are excluded.

You can even grab a little something extra for the holidays (like this doggie sweater!) for the holidays.

When you’re shopping at Target (which I always am!), it’s not just an ordinary trip to the store. I always start my trip at the dollar spot because I find awesome things! I picked up the sweater and a fun pet sign here.

Tabletop, entertaining and holiday decor are my next stop, given the holiday season.

Finally, the best pet section and Purina products round out my trip. Filling my cart to take advantage of the Target exclusive coupon is easy to do!

Once you have your treats – and new doggie bowls and sweaters, you can focus on that doggie food tray.

What you’ll need:

Unfinished Wood Tray

Paint

Foam Brush

Contact Paper

supplies

I chose chalk paint because it’s multipurpose and I didn’t have to sand the tray. I painted the entire  tray, even the part that I would be covering with the contact paper.

If I choose to remove the contact paper, I can have a completely different look by writing on the tray with chalk.

Once you’ve done two coats of paint and allowed to dry completely, you can cut your contact paper to size. The contact paper is good because you can easily wipe up spills and change the design.

TIP: I made this skid free by placing glue dots on each corner of the underside of the tray, since it had a rim. You could also use a non-skid carpet mat underneath.

Oliver loves his food tray and it’s helped to keep his eating area a little neater.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the Target Exclusive Coupon Target Exclusive Coupon to get $10 off $40 Purina Products when you TEXT PETS10 to 827438 – starts December 4th!

How are you treating your pet this holiday season?  What Purina Products would you purchase?
