With the holidays right around the corner, it’s a good time to take stock on how healthy your lifestyle is. There’s nothing worse than going into the holidays not feeling your best – especially when it comes to eating and daily practices. We all know that the holidays can take their toll on anyone – so I always like to slow down a bit as we head into the busy holiday season and really assess what small changes I can make
Tips to Prepare for a Healthier Holiday
Get Moving
Don’t wait until after the new year to make changes or start exercising. We all know how that goes! Instead, start early before holiday season. Make the small changes in routine to include a longer walk with the dog, more times per week at the gym or working out at home. Add in running, walking or a bike ride. Be an advocate for exercise with your family. A hike or family bike ride can be great ways to get a workout in while having fun. Spend time outdoors NOW before the cold weather, ice or snow sets in and it’s harder to do.
Water
I know! I put this in tip every list about health, but it’s because it is TRUE. Water makes all the difference. If your body is hydrated, it feels better, your skin looks better and your body performs better.
Take water everywhere you go and at holiday dinners and parties – sip water constantly in between beverages or cocktails.
Try Probiotics
Start taking Probiotics now as a great way to get healthier. Since Walmart has everyday low prices on Nature Made® items, it’s easy to stock up and start a routine!
I was able to find a great selection of Nature Made® items at Walmart. Everything in the section was well organized so I can always find exactly what I’m looking for – whether it is the probiotics, a vitamin or a supplement. At this Walmart store, everything was right near the pharmacy counter. The staff is always so helpful if I have a question about a particular vitamin, supplement or where to find something.
Eat Clean
With holiday events approaching, you’ll want to indulge in some favorites. You’ll feel better about doing so if you’ve been eating well. The holidays, for some of us, are never an excuse to go all out, but enjoying foods you love is understandable.
Some tips for eating clean –
- Pack your lunch
- Skip the sugary coffee house drinks and make your own coffee or tea at home. Don’t sweeten or choose better for you sweeteners.
- Cook at Home – Avoid the restaurants and eat clean at home. There’s plenty of time during the holidays to visit those favorite restaurants.
- Pre-package your own snacks. Prepare baggies of fruit, nuts, veggies to grab and go. Have healthy choices and proteins on hand for when you’re feeling hungry (i.e. raw almonds or hard boiled eggs.
