I have never been a morning person. Mornings can be hard, especially as a mom. I’m a person that needs to have a cup of coffee or tea and I really like to have breakfast as a good rule of thumb. But, for the past few years, mornings have been chaos in our house and I was ready for that to change. With my kids getting older, I knew they were ready for a few changes to morning that would help me reclaim that much needed coffee/breakfast time.
TIPS FOR AN EASIER MORNING:
Wake up Earlier
I know – this is the hardest thing but trust me when I tell you it is SOOO worth it. The quiet time you gain in the morning to exercise, shower in peace, and have a good cup of tea or coffee with your breakfast is worth sacrificing that snooze button.
Establish Nighttime Habits
Do things at night when you might have some more time. Have the kids help pack lunches, lay out all clothes and pack backpacks or bags. You’ll wake up ahead of the game and feeling less rushed.
Landing Zone
We have a ‘Landing Zone’ in our house. When we pack up the night before or in the morning, the landing zone is where I lay everything out. If it has to go out the door, it needs to be here — backpacks, lunches (in the AM), keys, purse, items for errands, etc This cuts down on searching the house for needed items in the rush of the morning.
Checklists
I don’t need a checklist in the AM, but my kids do. My kids use to wake and beg to switch on cartoons. This led to “dawdling” the rest of the morning. Now, they have a checklist they are in charge of. They must do everything on their checklist in order to earn some time to relax in the AM (reading, toys, TV, iPad). It’s amazing how fast things get done and how ready everyone is when there is an incentive at the bottom of their checklist.

My son’s checklist that he has to follow each morning that we have to be somewhere — school, camp, etc.
Good Breakfast for You
I have ready-to-eat breakfast items for my kids prepared and ready to go for my kids — and for me, Jimmy Dean Delights Frittatas. I love these!
Jimmy Dean Delights Frittatas are made with real ingredients like whole eggs, lean meat and real veggies. Additionally, they are an excellent source of protein, which is really important to me. A breakfast with protein helps me feel satisfied all morning, leading to better eating for the rest of the day. Added to that, they are SO convenient and easy to make –ready in the microwave in just 2 minutes!. It is the perfect way to start my day.
