Students and parents are not the only ones getting ready for back-to-school and stocking up on supplies. Teachers around the country are often putting in days or weeks preparing for the first day. I used to be one of those teachers. It was fun to get my classroom ready and I loved my annual trip to the teaching and office supply store to pick out new items for a new year. With school budgets tight, teachers often pick up many of their own supplies – as I did for years. That is why it’s nice when there are little extras here and there.
Every year, I make a gift for my kids’ teachers to start the school year. In addition to the items on the supply list, that we happily purchase, I always throw in some extra for the teacher. This year, we headed to Target (my favorite place to shop for everything, including school supplies) and made our way through the list. I saw Pilot G2 Pens and knew I had to grab a few packs. I already had a few at home and I absolutely LOVE writing with them.

An artist I am not, but these G2 Pens from Pilot make writing (and doodling) fun!
Since they had Pilot G2 Pens in packs of assorted colors, I decided to include them in a gift for the teachers, knowing they’d be perfect for grading papers, color coding lesson plans or even for student activities.
So why G2 Pens?
Not only are Pilot G2 Pens America’s #1 selling ink gel brand, but they have a smooth writing gel ink and a comfortable grip. With four point sizes and 15 vibrant colors, you can customize your writing experience. Honestly, they’re the best pens to write with – you’ll never want to be without them.
The assorted colors pack of the Pilot G2 Pens inspired me in creating a fun teacher gift basket. I hit the aisles of Target and picked up a few other things to put together a basket with a rainbow of colors – to go along with a quote I used to have on my desk many years ago.
The work can wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won’t wait while you do the work. – Patricia Clafford
It may not be the most profound quote, but it always spoke to me as a teacher. It reminded me that no matter what directives came from above, state mandates, testing or obstacles came my way, there was something to be said for small, teachable moments.
As a teacher, sometimes you have to go with that moment even if it means going off course for just a bit. It’s a message I love to give my kids’ teachers.
I decided to print the quote and frame it. You can download your own HERE.
I decided to give the gift with other teacher essentials in a pretty wire basket that the teacher can easily reuse.
