As the days of summer begin to dwindle down, everyone in my house is starting to think about school! To help us all have a little creative fun (before we think about all the big schedule changes that fall will bring!) we decided to make some tea towels stamped with apples. What could be more perfect for helping everyone get in the mood for the upcoming season? Plus, these adorable tea towels would be the perfect addition to a teacher gift to kick off the new school year
These towels are SO easy to make – and the kids will have a blast with this activity.
What You Need:
Tea Towels (White)
Red/Green Fabric Paint (Washable)
Apples – Medium Size work best
Start out by preparing your tea towels – iron if needed for a smooth work surface. You’ll want to decide where to place your “stamps” and how many you’ll want on each towel.
Cut the apples – trying to keep the stem in place. Don’t worry if it falls off – you can paint a stem on easily. Each half is your painting stamp.
I like to brush the paint onto each stamp – it’s less messy than dipping the apple into the paint.
Simply press on and allow to dry.
Tell me these aren’t adorable!
They get me thinking about fall and our routine and schedule changes. I often wonder how we’ll get it all done and manage to keep the house clean and in order.
Fortunately for me, I already stocked up on my favorite cleaning supplies at Whole Foods Market – Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Spray in Lemon-Verbena and Honeysuckle scents and Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Concentrate in Lavender scent. These products are my go-to for keeping my house clean!
That’s because Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® believes in a better way to get a good clean. The products have plant-derived ingredients and essential oils. These products are powerful against dirt and grime. Added to that, the garden-inspired scents are uplifting while you clean. If we have to clean – might as well make the very best of it!
Not only are they what I reach for when I need to clean up big kid messes and day-to-day dirt and grime, but they’re also great after a fun project like our stamped tea towels.
More about Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® & the Just Keep Making Campaign
The Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Just Keep Making Campaign is about believing that the world would be a better place if everyone was a Home Maker. We can all do this if we just get over the hump of “perfection” and try. You can do this by trying something new – even if it doesn’t turn out perfect.
Our tea towels are the perfect example of trying something different – instead of store bought, making the towels with fruit. I wasn’t 100% sure how it would turn out but my kids and I were excited to try! It was messy, for sure, but it was the start of something great.
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® is also a sponsor of Whole Kids Foundation. Whole Kids Foundation is dedicated to helping kids eat better and enjoy it. Founded by Whole Foods Market, the nonprofit organization is guided by the same values, principles, expertise and standards for quality ingredients, food production, methods and nutrition. Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® will donate $1 to Whole Kids Foundation for each of the first 25,000 cleaning products purchased between 8/24 and 9/13 of this year. The offer is valid on all scents of the Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Spray, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Dish Soap, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Concentrate, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Toilet Bowl Cleaner and Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Auto Dish Soap.
Whole Kids Foundation will invest the 25,000 donations to support edible learning gardens and salad bars at schools!
Putting it All Together – Teacher Gift
Since Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® inspires my cleaning at home, I knew these products would make the perfect addition a teacher gift basket. When I was a teacher, I loved keeping my work surface and desk clean, free from germs and being able to clean up little messes here and there.
In our gift basket, I included binder clips, stamps, decorated clothespins, our apple tea towels, some apples and Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® Multi-Surface Spray in Lemon Verbena and Honeysuckle scents – my two favorite scents.
