This post features summer essentials for your handbag. I was provided with a sample tote handbag in order to facilitate this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
With summer’s arrival, you’re sure to be shifting your focus to more time on-the-go. Whether you’re traveling, day-tripping, impromptu plans or just spending more time outdoors, you’ll want to keep the essentials in your summer bag. The elements in the summer can take their toll and you’ll not want to be without those items that will keep you feeling and looking your best in the heat.
A Summer Tote
Start with a summer tote that fits your lifestyle. I love the Tara Shopper in Pink from Dooney & Bourke. With three young kids, it’s large and accessible, so I can keep my essentials, along with some of the kids’ essentials. It’s a versatile bag and the fun, bright color is great for summer.
I like to keep a pair in my purse for when I’m out and about. I often forget my sunglasses in the car or at home – and you never know when you’ll need or want a pair. Having a pair in your tote will make sure you never have to go without.
Nail polish (for quick touch-ups or a that unscheduled mani/pedi), on-the-go perfume wand, waterproof mascara and lipbalm and lipstick all top my list. I also keep facial wipes and a facial spray with aloe and rosewater. Both will help refreshen and rehydrate your face on hot summer days.
Keep a few hair ties and a pretty headband in your bag. You never know when the humidity will cause your hair to act up. Being able to sweep it back or up will keep you cool, comfortable and looking good.
Have a good sunscreen in your bag at all times. I love the Beautycounter line – it’s safe, effective and made with no yucky chemicals. They also have a sunscreen stick that makes application and touch-ups a cinch for both you and the kids.
A couple bangles/ bracelets, a chunky necklace or hanging earrings are great to keep in your bag. You can go from day to evening quickly – dressing up a basic look with a few simple pieces.
I love my calendar on my phone, but I’m still a list person. I like to keep a notebook in my bag for ideas, lists, or even to keep the kids busy.
I don’t go anywhere without my water bottle during the summer. I love the glass kind – they are easier to wash and don’t retain flavor. You can add lemon or fruit to your water and not worry about it sticking to the plastic like some water bottles.
