I’m always waiting for my weeks to get easier and less hectic. I often find myself saying that I’ll catch up or have a better schedule next week. Only that “easier’ week never seems to come. More demands, activities, scheduled events and deadlines seem to get added on before I can even finish the current one.
The reality is that hectic weeks are here to stay. It has led me to do a few things to help ease those Sunday night anxieties and help #SeizeTheWeek.
Have a Weekly Planning Session
I schedule a planning session for myself. I cross check my emails, phone and our family calendar to help myself plan a schedule. It takes time, but it’s worth it when you feel organized knowing what to expect each day. A weekly plan of action can even help you accomplish more!
So, grab a (big) cup of coffee and get planning. You can try out THIS free weekly planner that I was inspired to create, helping me to #SeizeTheWeek.
Give yourself permission to take shortcuts to tackle tasks that are too time consuming or will stress you out. It’s okay if you need someone to clean the house or use a meal delivery service. I sometimes use a dinner service that prepares homemade, healthy and fresh, family style meals. It makes me less stressed to know that cooking has been taken care of on my busiest nights.
Recharge for the Week with Sleep
You will be more efficient if you are working with a good night’s sleep. For me, this can be hard sometimes. Thoughts of the crazy week ahead can keep me from getting the sleep I need and I’m spoiled from a weekend schedule. On those occasional nights, I take ZzzQuil to get my normal amount of sleep. It is a non-habit forming sleep aid that helps me fall asleep easily, sleep soundly and wake refreshed – ready to take on my week. Also, ZzzQuil is made just for sleep, not for pain.
Take the rush out of the mornings by prepping everything on Sunday. I use bins in my children’s rooms to sort outfits for the week. Likewise, I plan what I will wear and do any pressing (or finding of favorite socks or accessories for the kiddos!) That way, in the morning, we can get ready with less drama.
Have everything packed and ready to go so you can focus on bigger things as you head out the door.
These are just a few of the little tricks that have helped me get through some of my most hectic weeks. What ways do you #SeizeTheWeek?
