I previously shared how I had the opportunity to visit Hershey, PA as part of the Sweet Welcome 2015 media event – and wrote about visiting Hershey for the holidays! The the thing I learned during my visit is that Hershey is great anytime of year – and for all types of families, ages and interests. I loved my trip to Hershey so much that I promptly scheduled a trip back for my kids to be able to experience Christmas at Hershey. They loved it – and now we can’t wait to return again in warmer weather.
So what makes Hershey, PA such a great family vacation destination? Here are 5 reasons – out of MANY!
Designed for Families
It’s clear that the layout, particularly of HersheyPark, were designed with families in mind. Within my family, I have a 6 year old and 3 year old twins. The rides my twins want to go on are not the rides my 6 year old wants to go on. The rides at HersheyPark are not sectioned off. Rather, within each area, you can find something for everyone. It makes it easy to stay together as a family and switch between games, rides, food and attractions. You can “switch it up” at any point during your visit.
Educational There’s a lot to learn at Hershey – especially for older children. I highly recommend the trolley tours. You’ll learn all about Milton Hershey, the Milton Hershey School and the legacy Milton S. Hershey left behind. It’s truly inspiring and a great thing for kids to learn about. There’s also a lot of fun facts and interesting tidbits (not to mention candy!) shared on the tour ride.
Something for Everyone No matter how many different interests you have in your family, you’ll find something that will make everyone happy. From ZooAmerica, to Hershey Gardens, from Concerts at Hershey Stadium, to games at Giant Center. The waterpark in the summer and the Christmas Candylane in winter – you can make the pickiest of travelers happy. Feel like exploring the world of chocolate making – then visit Hershey World.
If you need a little R&R on your trip (ME! Raises hand!!), than the Spa at Hotel Hershey is there to whisk your stress away with the ultimate pampering experience.
Did I mention the fun shopping for all?
Accommodating There is one common thread in all things – the helpful, accommodating and friendly staff. I have seen the dining staff accommodate allergy and dietary restrictions and in my own experience, a waiter who helped me design a breakfast for the pickiest little eater with sensory issues. They made my son something that was not even on the menu thanks to a caring waiter who made some suggestions for a personalized meal!
When my daughter fell down and scraped her knee, a staff member hand delivered a bandaid to our room. Bottom line, as a parent who is deciding where to vacation with my family – I want to go somewhere where the employees truly care about the visitor and that is definitely the case in Hershey, PA!
