When you have a baby, you’re guaranteed to get unsolicited advice from everywhere. Some of it is wayyy off, some of it in fun and sometimes, you get a piece of advice that is a gem. When I had my twins, I remember a family friend telling me in that first month to take care of myself first. She added that I wouldn’t be able to properly take care of anyone else if I didn’t take care of myself. Clearly, it’s not always possible to recharge when you really need it, but the truth in her advice is that you must be sure you are addressing your own needs in order to be able to be the best for your family.
I found out the hard way when I ‘crashed and burned’ a year into our life with twins and a preschooler. I wasn’t taking time for myself, I wasn’t accepting help, I wasn’t making sure my well-being was a priority — and that had to stop.
So what is a busy parent to do? It’s as simple as a break a few times a week. Do not feel guilty at the idea of a sitter or asking someone for help. Take the time to hit the gym, see your doctor (keeping regular physicals and dental visits is SO important), get a massage, or get your haircut.
Massage Envy…Because.
Your well-being matters and one way I like to address mine is with a massage at Massage Envy. Massage Envy understands that treating your body well shouldn’t be a luxury. As a leader in providing accessible massage and skincare services, Massage Envy is helping you to manage life! Life is made up of ‘Because’ Moments – daily.
Whether it’s running late to work, messing up a holiday dinner, or missing an appointment – life can be stressful. Your body works hard for you day in and day out – to help take care of your family and obligations. Massage Envy is there to help through aches, pains, stresses….and of course, new year’s resolutions.
I love that Massage Envy believes in total body care as part of an integral part of everyone’s wellness journey. Total body care is when we pause during the daily grind to check in and tune up! We all need it from time to time! Massage Envy understands the need to unwind and refresh…and their newest campaign, ‘Because,’ elevates massage from a luxury to a routine solution to manage everyday ups and downs. For me, that’s when I feel like a taxi. The kids are fighting, everyone is cranky, I’ve got to be in a different places at once. It’s when I feel the world getting heavy on my shoulders. That’s when I know that I need a refresh…a tune up.
