Even though there is a month left of summer vaction, we’re gearing up for Back-to-School by getting stocked up – especially when it comes to meals and snacks.
Everything about our routine will change when the school year starts. One meal that is so important to me is breakfast. I like to serve my kids a good breakfast that is filling and delicious. It sets the tone for the day and gives them the energy they need.
That’s why I love it when a sale can help me stock up for the school year AND inspire some new recipes. At Acme, I was able to shop the Albertsons Banner Stores Huge Anniversary Sale. You can also shop at stores like Safeway, Vons, and Star Market. I found so many amazing deals at Acme. Now, I can plan out some new breakfast recipes, like this Oatmeal Squares Crusted French Toast, for busy school mornings. It combines my kids favorite cold cereal, Quaker Oatmeal Squares, with a warm french toast.
Crunchy, a hint of brown sugar, filling – it is delicous and easy.
Start with crushed Oatmeal Squares cereal and prepare an egg mixture that includes 2 eggs, nutmeg and cinnamon.
You make it the same way you’d make french toast, only after dipping the bread in the egg mixture, coat each slice of bread with the crushed Oatmeal Squares. Cook in a pan or on griddle until slightly browned and golden.
You can serve as is, with a yogurt topping (my kids’ favorite), with fruit or any other favorite way.
