I am definitely more productive, focused and happy when my home is neat and clean. Unfortunately, I don’t like cleaning too much. I avoid it when I can, so I’ve been forced to find some ways to make easier to achieve an ‘everyday clean‘ home
Organize
The first step really doesn’t even involve cleaning. If you put in the time to organize and manage things – your home automatically appears cleaner. A bathroom countertop strewn with products does not look very clean. But take the time to develop a system where everything has it’s place and your bathroom will always appear cleaner.
My kids have their own bathroom (thank goodness) but it also doubles as a guest bathroom. I had to tackle the clutter on our open shelves. My solution was to give the dark trim a fresh coat of white paint to match the shelves and work in some organization.
Tips for Organizing Open Shelving
- Use baskets and bins to hide products and create decorative interest
- Fill in gaps with decorative items – like vases, candles and plants.
- Keep towels and linens folded neatly
- Think about what you use often and make sure it has easy access.
You can see the before and after of my shelves at the end of the post – Keep reading!
Simplify the How
Think about how you’re cleaning. For me, I’m less likely to clean if I have to bring out all sorts of cleaning supplies. Not gonna happen. So, I have a ‘dream-team’ of amazing products from Clorox that help me clean quickly and easily. No fuss.
First up, the kitchen. The Clorox Pump ‘N Clean Kitchen & Dish Cleaner puts the cleaner at your fingertips. Just pump the cleaner onto a paper towel or rag and go – it’s so convenient! This multipurpose, multisurface cleaning solution is food-safe and you can clean up with one hand. This product keeps my kitchen spotless.
Bathrooms can be a challenge to clean. With the Clorox Bathroom ScrubSingles, it doesn’t have to be such a lengthy chore. These bathroom pads come preloaded with Clorox cleaner. You can use these double-sided pads on showers, sinks, toilets, faucets, walls, floors and more. Just clean and toss.
Finally, tackle the dust bunnies with Clorox Triple Action Dust Wipes.
The wipes are dry, non-abrasive and feature a weave that helps to trap dust, hair and more! You can dust an entire room in no time, with just one wipe. I love being able to forget the duster, rag and broom. Tip: These are available in XL Size which fit any standard sweeper!
Schedule
Now that you have the house clean, make a schedule. You’re busy and there’s no need to spend hours cleaning. Putting tasks on a rotation will help you get to everything without feeling the time-pinch of cleaning. I keep mine on a clipboard that I hang inside my cleaning cabinet – easy to grab and check off tasks.

My upstairs bathroom is in desperate need of some organization. It’s so small up there & it’s a total mess. I love your ideas.
I say, put everything back as soon as you’re done using it. I have to say, I’m finally caught up on all the household + blog chores. It’s been a few weeks, and just last night I was like – enough is enough. I cranked on some music, tided the house. Waking up this morning was such a nice relief, especially to have the main floor cleaned up (my husband usually dumps his clothes all over the couch… which causes suhc a mess at the end of of the week).
I love how you did these shelves! It almost makes me wish mine were open! I am going to look for the wipes too. They would come in handy.
Thanks so much for sharing this! I have open shelving, and I never know exactly what to do with it.
I use baskets in my bathroom for added spacer saver too. My bathroom is big but has no storage space. I place on basket on each side of the sink. One for the boys, another for us girls.
I love clorox products, they always make your house smell so clean and fresh! Your shelves look amazing!
It would be great to do some reorganizing and some simple cleaning with the wipes as I go. Making my house more organized and better looking is always a priority.

Our bathroom is very small so I really have to be organized all the time. Thanks for the tips!
This is a really great idea, my bathroom isn’t that big so it isn’t hard to organize! But I can see this being perfect for people.
I totally agree with you — the more organized things are, the tidier they look even if you haven’t cleaned in awhile. I like using decorative objects to fill shelf space so that there’s no room for clutter!

I love baskets and bins. I need to get more for my living room shelves. Mine are just brown, and they are on a black shelf so it’s kind of awful to look at. I love the teal! Looks so pretty. Really great tips!
I have so many baskets and bins but I throw everything into the and don’t keep them as neat as I should. I need to label them so I know what goes in each one.
