With today being Mother’s Day, I know many mothers think back to that moment when they became a mother for the first time – and every time thereafter. I can remember, like it was yesterday, when I had my first – our son. Becoming a mother changes you forever.
But there are other moments, earlier than the birth of the child that change us forever – where we become mothers long before we meet that child. There’s the moment that you find out you are pregnant. For me, I think I truly became a mother in that moment..that instant. It changes everything about the way you think, act, feel and see the world.
My First Pregnancy
With my son, born 5 years ago, there was a long wait to get pregnant. It just didn’t happen right away and I took many tests and had a lot of disappointment. One morning, in October of 2009, I took a test and couldn’t believe it when a very faint line showed up. I sent my husband out to the store for a few more tests and we took each of them with the same results. Literally, my entire bathroom vanity was lined up with tests. You couldn’t contain our excitement – and sure enough, 9 months later we welcomed our first child, a boy.
My Second Pregnancy
We had just moved into a new home when I took a Clearblue test. What I liked about these tests was that there was nothing to interpret – it read Pregnant or Not Pregnant. Simple! When I took this particular test, I knew it was kind of early to be testing and I wasn’t too confident we’d a result. When the digital screen read “Pregnant,” I was shocked. Something seemed different. My suspicions would be confirmed, not long after with an ultrasound that showed two heartbeats….twins. It was quite the shock that forever changed our lives, for the better! At first, I was shocked but now I cannot imagine my life without them!
With both pregnancies, a reliable pregnancy test, like Clearblue, played an enormous role in how we found out. Our Clearblue test also helped us tell the news to family members and friends – by snapping a pic of that digital read out.
