My laundry room is in an unfinished portion of our basement – just off the garage. I don’t like it, but it’s not what we want to put our money and time into right now. There are other parts of the house that we want to finish first. Since I spend so much time in that room (with all the laundry of three little ones), I wanted to give it a bit of a facelift – a little more color and an overall refresh. Of course, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on it
Here is my laundry room before:
Blah. It was so boring – just begging for some color and decor.
I really spent a minimal amount and feel that the space just as a more welcoming feeling! Here are some quick ways to refresh a laundry room:
Add a colorful or bold carpet.
It’s the best way to just draw your eye to the color. I chose this navy patterned carpet and I just love the way it changes the space.
You can certainly buy a window treatment to help add some color and design to the room. I, however, did not want to spend a lot so I used some leftover fabric to create my own “faux valance.” I used fabric glue to ‘hem’ the edges and used velcro tabs to hand them to the wood frame. It’s cheating, I know, but it was inexpensive and I can change the look out at any time.
Organization will always add an element of design to a room. Instead of detergents and supplies on top of the washer or on the floors or counters, give them a home. Organize on shelves – and add something pretty in. I used some faux flowers to make the space feel prettier. You can also use jars and storage bins to display supplies and keep things out of the way.
Having products that complement your design can be a great way to tie everything together. For example, method laundry detergents will help you brighten up your laundry room with transparent bottles and unique designs. It’s a great way to add in color as opposed to the traditional opaque laundry bottles.
I love that the colors are so vibrant and will do their part to help liven up any laundry space! Here are some of the other colors/bottles:
More about method
The bottles feature an easy-to-use grip instead of a handle because handles make them not fully recyclable. Added to that, the bottles are made with 100% post-consumer recycled materials + is fully recyclable. Great look – great for the environment. It’s a win-win!
Not only will your laundry room look great with method – but it will smell amazing. method brings a wide range of fragrances – such as ginger mango, spring garden, beach sage and fresh clover. You can even go free & clear if that’s what you prefer!
So, how does it work? The NEW 4x concentrated laundry detergent has naturally derived cleaning power. It’s tough on dirt and stains! It works to keep colors bright and whites white. You can use the detergents in cold water which helps to save on energy!
