With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I’m behind on all things planning. I have a lot of ideas and a vision, but have executed little! Today, I tackled an easy idea for place cards, some table decor and a favor rolled into one. We don’t have an insanely huge guest list, but there’s enough people that it can get pretty confusing if seating is left to the moment before we eat. I like to plan out and coordinate what is easiest. It just makes the dinner go more smoothly.
These easy to make burlap votives go with a lot of different table themes and are really fitting for Thanksgiving. It will add an element of decor to the table but also serve as a nice little favor for guests to take away. I paired it with a simple tag with each guest’s name.
All you need for this simple project is a trip to your local craft store. It’s cheap to make and easy! Both are a plus with me.
What You Need:
Votives
Candles
Roll of Burlap
Glue Gun
Pick out any plain votive – smooth glass is better. Avoid anything with a design so the burlap lays smoothly. Pick out a roll of burlap. I went with a plain, ordinary burlap, but our Michael’s had rolls of burlap with gold designs, stripes, wording and more. You could do this project with any of them!
Measure and cut the burlap to fit around the votive. Start with a rough cut, because you can trim away the excess later on. Put a thin line of glue along the top and bottom edge of votive. Fit burlap. It is important to trim any excess burlap so that you don’t have anything near a flame.
I then used regular tags with ribbon to place each name by the votives.
And that’s it – easy placecards, favor and a really pretty addition to your Thanksgiving table.
