My two-year-old twin daughters love the Disney Junior show, Sofia the First. Everytime it comes on, they’re singing, dancing and in awe. With Halloween coming up quickly, I knew a Sofia costume for both girls would be perfect.
Finding the perfect costume and accessories was easy at Walmart. I was able to find a Sofia costume for each girl in the Disney Junior section of the toy aisle. There was everything you would need to dress up your little one as Sofia, Doc McStuffins, or my favorite, Minnie Mouse. It was one-stop shopping for kids halloween costumes and dress-up, too! I was able to find other Disney Junior costumes in the Halloween costume aisle as well. Walmart definitely has you covered!
Be sure to check your local Walmart for a special in-store display featuring Minnie Mouse and Doc McStuffins costumes. Displays will be in store from October 4-18th.
We also picked up some fun Disney Junior American Greetings supplies – plates, napkins and Amulet necklace favors – which I knew I would use for Halloween, dress-up and a tasty treat!
Sofia the First Dress Up Party & Treat
I decided to let the girls have some dress-up fun with their costumes before Halloween. After all, their big brother is being a football player and has been running around the house in his helmet for a month now! It’s only fair to let the girls get a little excitement going with a Sofia the First Dress-Up Party and Purple Amulet Cupcakes.
It was simple fun for the girls and easy for me to put together with the costumes, themed partyware and some added tulle to dress things up!
The best part was surprising them with their costumes! They couldn’t wait to try them on.
Once the girls were in costume, I was really impressed with the level of detail – definitely great for making each feel like a true princess!
Costume Details
Sofia plates, napkins, and an Amulet necklace – they loved it all. We even had our ‘tea set’ and of course, a fancy treat.
A Dress-Up Party Treat
I used a simple vanilla cupcake recipe with some natural food coloring to create a purple – colored cake, just like Sofia’s prized Amulet necklace. It’s a bit hard to tell the cupcake’s color- but it didn’t go unnoticed by my girls.
Topped with vanilla buttercream and glittery sprinkles, I then used the Amulet Party favor necklace as a cupcake topper!
The necklaces were also fun for dress up and the girls have a lot of extra necklaces to share with their friends come Halloween!
Disney Junior helped me check off Halloween costume shopping and made it easy to have a fun themed tea party.
Simple, imaginative and fun – and thanks to Disney Junior and Walmart, it was easy to help my girls feel like princesses.
Does your child have a favorite Disney Junior character they would like to dress up as?

So darling! My 4 year old loves Sofia.
What a perfect party for little princesses. I’ve seen Sophia around but must admit I don’t know much about her. Purple is my favorite color though so I’d be thrilled with a purple cupcake.
I love the details you added to the fun! The tulle bow on the chair, the silver sugar on your cupcakes… it all looked sweet and sophisticated. Perfect for your own little Princesses and Sofia the First fans. #client
