Anti-Aging: 5 Tips for Younger Looking Eyes

Motherhood and blogging. I can easily say that these have been two of the best things in my life in the last few years. But the hard work that BOTH comes with has taken a toll, most noticeably, on my eyes. Whether it’s a sleepless night from a teething baby or blogging late into the night (because thats the only time it’s quiet), the effects are obvious. Under eye circles, the beginnings of crows feet, dryness, puffiness, and tired looking eyes. I realize that I must step-up my eye care routine, both with daily fixes and eye creams with anti-aging effects. Below are five of the things I do help my eyes look their best.

5 Tips : Making Your Eyes Look Younger

1. Find the Right Anti-Aging Eye Creams

I like to use products that contain Retinol, which can help reduce wrinkles and stimulate collagen. A best bet is RoC Retinol Correxion Eye Cream. If you are sensitive to Retinol, this also comes in a Sensitive Formula. Whichever formula you choose, these creams will help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and crows feet around the eyes, help with dark circles and puffiness. All of which will give you more youthful looking eyes.

RoC Brand also has an amazing Multi-Correxion 5 in 1 Eye Cream. Utilizing Hexinol Technology,  this eye cream helps to improves the look of dark circles, puffiness, dryness, dull-tone and wrinkles, the 5 elements of aging.

With RoC brand, it’s not too good to be true. I’ve used their skincare products for a long time with great success – particularly their night creams and smoothing serums.

I always shop Duane Reade for my skincare products. Duane Reade, particularly the LOOK Boutiques always have brands that go beyond typical drugstore brands.  No matter which Duane Reade I stop into, I can always find my favorite RoC Brand Products in the skincare aisle. On this particular trip, I picked up some eye creams to replenish my supply. Shopping Duane Reade for my skincare needs is convenient and cost-effective – especially with Balance Rewards.

2. Stay Hydrated

We’ve all heard how important it is to drink plenty of water. It IS really important for your eyes. If you are well-hydrated, there is less of a chance of fluid-retention, especially the sensitive eye area. Also, try to reduce salt and avoid excess caffeine consumption. With less puffiness and hydrated skin, your eyes will look more youthful.

3. Get Plenty of Sleep

For me, this is the hardest tip to follow, but the most important because tired eyes can age your eyes instantly.  My kids keep me going when they’re awake, so I end up staying up late to get things done. The later the night, the puffier my eyes in the AM. Try to get enough sleep and think of the quality of your sleep. If you can, sleep with your head elevated to prevent fluid from accumulating around the eye area.

4.  Know the 5 Minute Fixes

No matter what you do, there will always be those mornings you wake up with puffy eyes, tired eyes. Knowing some quick fixes can help soothe your eyes quickly in the AM. One trick is to place spoons in the freezer and then place rounded part of spoon over your eyes. The cold will help to constrict blood vessels and reduce that puffy look. You can also place tea bags or cucumber over your eyes. This really does work and will help to reduce swollen, puffy eyes.

5. Learn the Right Make Up Tricks

Learn the appropriate way to conceal. TIP : When choosing a concealer for dark circles, look for something in the yellow/warm family and a color that is half a shade lighter than your foundation. Consult with a makeup artist to learn what colors work for you  and to learn specific tricks for application. Making sure your brows are well-shaped and having lashes that stand-out can make a big difference in the appearance of your eyes.
