5 Preschooler-Friendly Behavior Apps

Mar 11, 2014 Stephanie

Preschooler Friendly Apps

Preschoolers can have unpredictable behavior. Added to that, it can be difficult to know where to start when creating a behavior plan for them – especially when one thing works for some children and not for others. Below are 5 of my favorite Apps for encouraging positive behavior and reinforcing responsibility.

1. iBehave

iBehave, kids apps

With this app, you can affirm good behavior and deter negative behavior. Quite simply, it uses virtual marbles to help your child reach their goal. You have the ability to manage multiple children, a passcode lock,  a variety of marble colors, and an unlimited amount of marbles. Great for younger children!

2. iReward Chart

iRewardChart blends the traditional reward chart with a simple-to-use online, interactive interface. Keep track of good behavior and reward with stars as the currency. Keep track of the stars and children can then buy rewards (that parent has set up and ‘priced’  with the stars they have earned. Couldn’t be easier and more basic!

3. iReward – not to be confused with the above.

This very visual app is designed to tie a specific behavior with a specific reward – for example – make bed, get computer time. You select a photo from your library, or take a photo to represent the task or behavior. You can include a voice praise to be played after the child has completed (i.e. Great job!) Easy to use for all levels!  Great for special needs. iReward app

4. Beep & Boop

This app changes the conversation – getting away from the regular terminology. You define the behaviors that you’re working on, set goals and rewards and then keep score. Positive behaviors get a ‘beep’ and negative behaviors get a ‘boop.’  In keeping score, a boop erases a beep – so children are really held accountable!  My son loves the silliness of the beep and boop sounds, too. This is a fun app that I highly recommend.

5.  Rich Kids

Help kids learn to make the right choices with this app and help teach money-skills, too. When your child reaches a goal, they earn coupons for prizes. Simple, straightforward and easy to use.
