The 2014 College Basketball Tournament is underway, which means my husband as been glued to the tv daily. Not only is he rooting for his Philly alma mater, he also writes for a college basketball website. So whether he is writing, or cheering on his team, I’ve learned it’s best to stockpile the kitchen for the month with his favorite snacks – all of which I can get at Duane Reade.
With one stop into Duane Reade, I can pick up the essentials to have the best snacks on hand. You’ll find lots of choices at Duane Reade – from snacks, to frozen foods to fresh food options. I chose to pick up pretzels, nuts, frozen appetizers, candy, and all the ingredients for a great party mix.
I selected a few frozen appetizers to have on hand. They’re easy to prepare and if someone stops by to watch a game with him, I have something to serve.
The Potato Skins are a favorite around here.
The DeLish Spanakopita is another delicious choice! The only downside is that I didn’t buy more boxes. Fortunately, it is as easy a quick stop into Duane Reade to stock up on some more.
I also picked up these DeLish Peanut Butter filled pretzels. A great pairing with the work already done for you.
Finally, I decided to make a party mix. I can make it in a big batch and it stores well. With the awesome selection at Duane Reade you can pick out all kinds of ingredients to make your own custom party mix.
To Make: I combined cereal, chocolate coated candies, pretzel sticks, roasted almonds, roasted peanuts, raisins and dried cranberries – all from my local Duane Reade. I then coated the mixture with melted butter, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. You can make this ahead of time and store it in an airtight container for a great snack supply. I served mine in a fun, paper cone, which could easily show off your teams favorite colors.
