Tuna & Avocado Salad:

Oct 03, 2013 Stephanie

I like to incorporate a lot of high protein foods into my diet, but as a stay-at-home mom, I actually don’t have a lot of time during the day to prepare complex meals. It leads to a lot of skipping meals which always backfires on me.  One food that I use to make a quick and healthy lunch is tuna.

Recently, I tried Ocean Naturals Skipjack Tuna and I was SO impressed with the product and the company. #OceanNaturals Tuna is quite simply tuna that is Good, Good for You and Good for the Planet.

It’s Good. Really good. I thought it might just be another tuna – but I was completely impressed with how fresh-tasting it was. Like no other.

It’s Good for You. You can feel good about eating this tuna. Not only are they super-picky in hand-selecting the best of the catch, Ocean Naturals doesn’t use additives or fillers. The Skipjack Tuna in water has 90mg of Omega 3 Fatty Acids and 15g of Protein. Another thing I loved is that Ocean Naturals allows you to learn where your tuna came from. By entering the code on my can, I saw exactly where and when the fish was caught and all the specifics of the catch.

It’s Good for the Planet. Ocean Naturals only uses wild, ‘Responsibly-caught’ seafood. They guarantee it.

I decided to try out one of my favorite go-to lunches with the Ocean Naturals Skipjack Tuna in Water. I found the product at Walmart and picked up a few other ingredients for this quick & healthy lunch.

You can see the difference in this tuna – it looks and tastes so fresh.

Fresh and easy ingredients combine with the tuna to make for a quick prep: Egg, Avocado, Tomato, Pepper, Dash of Salt & Pepper.

Simply blend the tuna with the avocado and egg. The avocado replaces mayo, making for a rich, creamy tuna salad.

For this quick lunch, I like to create a platter for myself with melba crackers, pepper sticks. You can see how I like to assemble my toast with the tuna salad. The reason I love this lunch so much is I can quickly prep it and eat it while I’m taking care of my kids.

Tuna & Avocado Salad

Ingredients:
1 can of Ocean Naturals Skipjack Tuna in Water
1/2 cup diced tomato
1/2 cup diced pepper
1 hard-boiled egg, sliced
1/2 Avocado

 Directions:
After mixing Tuna to desired consistency, add avocado and hard-boiled egg. Mash together. The Avocado replaces the mayo in this recipe, so mix well. Add in pepper and mix to spread through. Salt and pepper to taste. I like to add the tomato on top.

You can use this recipe, as I did, on Melba Toast crackers or I also like to use lettuce for lettuce wraps.
