As parent, I’m always looking for ways to create lasting memories and bond with my family. Looking back on my own childhood, I spent so many fond memories at the shore and boating with my grandfather. The time on the water is quality time. It provides the best opportunity for families to bond. In fact, 69% of boaters say that boating brings their families closer together. And considering that last year 83 million Americans chose boating , it’s clear that there is something about boating that creates a bonding experience. Boating can be for all types of personalities and budgets – whether you like a small fishing boat, or like hitting the surf in a larger boat, you can enjoy fishing, cruising, watersports and so much more.
Despite boating for most of my childhood, I admit it is intimidating to think of getting started with my own family. When I had the opportunity to check out Discover Boating, I was thrilled with how easy they make it easy for everyone to learn more about how to get started. The website leaves no stone unturned and answers every possible question. They have helpful resources, interactive tools and guides/tips. It’s the perfect place to get started on your boating adventure.
Here’s some of what I found extremely helpful:
Boat Selector Tool – Helps you understand the different types and sizes of boats and what might be best for you.
Marina and Ramp Locator – Find a marina close to you!
Try Before You Buy – You can research and even find out ways to try out a type of boat before you commit and buy.
Just for Kids: Games and activities to help get your kids excited about boating.
